Sherman’s Jacob Charske was seventh overall and led the Bearcats’ Maroon squad to a runner-up finish at the Denison Cross-Country Invitational on Saturday.


Charske finished in 17:53.5 and was joined in the top 10 by teammates Eric Garcia (17:57.6) in ninth and Armando Arredondo (17:58.4) in 10th. Simon Scheibmeir was 16th at 18:21 and Reynel Rodriguez was 25th at 18:39.2


Sherman was second to champion McKinney Boyd.


Denison’s Wilson Kirkbride was 13th with a time of 18:12.1 and Bralio Prado was in the top 50 at 42nd in a time of 19:06.7.


Pottsboro’s Jared Miller was 30th at 18:52.6.


In the girls 5K, Sherman’s Libby Ticknor was 18th in 22:24.6 while Jessie Gramajo was 33rd in 23:28.7 and Lizbeth Sanchez was 47th at 24:35.4.


Denison’s Christina Hernandez was 20th in 22:36.6, Karsen Ives was 27th at 23:02.9, Katy Bonham was 34th in 23:30.1 and Regan McClure was 36th in 23:40.2.


In the girls 3200, Kate Poe won with a time of 13:57.7, just ahead of Howe’s Kristian Sutherlun at 14:01.3.


Pottsboro’s Hadley Williams was fourth in 14:32 while Gunter’s Bria Savage (14:55.4) and Tori Gittens (14:58.5) were fifth and sixth overall.


Pottsboro teams took the top two places while Tom Bean Black was third.
