WHITEWRIGHT — The Lady Panthers varsity Volleyball team beat district rivals from Whitewright. Van Alstyne (10-10) won 3-1 overall in matches that took place on Sept. 26 on the road in Whitewright. The final scores for the four sets were 22-25, 25-12, 25-20, 25-15.


Lady Panthers Liz Purser and Alyssa Hill tied for the lead against Whitewright with seven kills. Lindi Boling led with 20 digs, Micah Welch earned 15 digs and Valorie Young highlighted the competition for Van Alstyne with 14 assists.


With the victory, the Lady Panthers have earned a 2-3 overall district record and will continue conference play against long-time rivals the Lady Bulldogs when the team hosts Howe on Friday, Sept. 29 at Van Alstyne High School.
