Austin College volleyball player Rebekah Bowden has been named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week, the league office has announced.

Bowden, a senior from Flint, was dominant from her middle blocker position at the Austin College Invitational. She averaged two blocks per set, with seven block solos and 28 total blocks to help the ‘Roos go 4-0 over the weekend. Bowden also averaged 1.79 kills per set, and had a weekend-best 11 total blocks in a five-set victory over Occidental.

Bowden currently leads the SCAC and ranks fifth in the nation with an average of 1.52 blocks per set for the year.
