WICHITA FALLS — The Sherman Lady Cats saw their 11-match win streak come to an end Friday with a 26-24, 25-19, 25-19 loss to Wichita Falls High in the District 5-5A opener for both teams.
Kylie Jackman had eight kills to lead Sherman (23-5 overall, 0-1) with Rylie Bernard adding six kills along with 11 digs and two aces. Sarah Graham finished with three blocks. Dallas Aleman had 27 assists and nine digs and Cameron Wecker had 16 digs.
The Lady Cats host Denison at 6:20 p.m. on Tuesday at Bearcat Gymnasium.
Denton Ryan def. Denison 3-0
Taylor Greenameyer had 10 kills and eight digs for Denison but Denton Ryan defeated the Lady Yellow Jackets, 25-13, 25-15, 28-26, in the District 5-5A opener at Denison on Friday.
Kiara Scott added five kills and seven digs, Drew Hayes put down five kills, Taryn Gaines totaled four kills and six digs, Courtney Gillespie handed out 22 assists to go with 13 digs and Taylor Dawes collected nine digs for Denison (19-7, 0-1), which travels to rival Sherman at 6 p.m. on Tuesday night.
Gunter def. Pottsboro 3-0
GUNTER — Camryn MacDonald had 14 kills, five digs and two aces as Gunter opened district play with a 25-11, 25-17, 25-20 victory against Pottsboro on Friday.
Beth Gilbreath put down six kills, Sarah Franze totaled five kills and 17 digs, Jacee Childers finished with 35 assists, 13 digs and three aces, Nyah Ingram collected 15 digs and Halle Ward and Lakin Satre each chipped in four kills for Gunter (18-6, 1-0).
Whitesboro def. S&S 3-0
WHITESBORO — Sierra Parks had 10 kills as Whitesboro started district play with a 25-19, 25-11, 25-14 victory against S&S on Friday.
Phoenix West added nine kills, five assists and five digs, Qyra Ressler put down seven kills and Karlee Schuessler totaled 17 assists, six digs, four kills and three aces for Whitesboro (13-10, 1-0).
Grace Johnson put down five kills, Leighann Wolfe had seven assists and six digs, Kaylee Baker collected five digs and Payton White finished with two kills and two blocks for S&S.
Van Alstyne def. Lone Oak 3-0
VAN ALSTYNE — Alyssa Hill had 13 kills and 13 aces as Van Alstyne opened district play with a 25-14, 25-11, 25-23 victory against Lone Oak on Friday.
Valerie Young added six kills and 10 digs, Lindi Boling collected 23 digs and Brittany O’Hanlon put down five aces for Van Alstyne (14-8, 1-0).
Commerce def. Leonard 3-1
COMMERCE — Alyssa Davis had 13 kills, 12 digs and five aces for Leonard but Commerce defeated the Tigerettes in the district opener on Friday.
Chloey Baker collected 10 digs for Leonard (18-8, 0-1).
Farmersville def. Whitewright 3-0
WHITEWRIGHT — The Lady Tigers opened district play with a 25-12, 25-16, 25-12 loss against Farmersville on Friday.
Whitewright returns to district action at Leonard on Tuesday.
Dodd City def. Roxton 3-0
ROXTON — Journie Hilliard had seven kills and two aces as Dodd City started district play with a 25-8, 25-9, 25-4 victory against Roxton on Friday.
Madelyn Underwood put down eight aces. Abby Weeks totaled 15 assists, two kills and two aces and Cassandra Woodlee added three kills for Dodd City (14-5, 1-0).
Trenton def. Savoy 3-0
TRENTON — Maddison Lavoie had eight kills and six digs as Trenton defeated Savoy, 25-9, 25-5, 25-14, in the district opener for both teams on Friday.
Gracie Holden added six kills and five digs and Bethany Nors totaled 15 assists, four digs and two aces for Trenton (10-16, 1-0).
Bells def. Wolfe City 3-0
BELLS — Charli Waggoner and Dezeray Poe each put down nine kills as Bells opened district play with a 25-19, 25-16, 25-18 victory against Wolfe City on Friday.
Cheyenne Floyd had 11 assists and five kills, Emma Cobb chipped in five kills, Bella Smith totaled 10 digs and four kills, Hali Williams handed out 17 assists and Kennedy Derzapf collected 10 digs for Bells (8-16, 1-0).
Blue Ridge def. Tom Bean 3-0
BLUE RIDGE — Baylee Stautzenberger had four kills for Tom Bean but Blue Ridge defeated the Lady Tomcats, 25-15, 25-7, 25-13, in the district opener on Friday.
Jillian Beck totaled three kills, five assists and two blocks, Lexi Ellis added three kills and Jewel Mason collected six digs for Tom Bean.
