With high school football and the 2017 dove hunting season kicking off today, there’s much to get excited about on this September 1.
And that includes the quick approach of the annual Whitesboro Ducks Unlimited dinner, scheduled this year for Saturday, Sept. 9 at Don’s Barbecue on Hwy. 377 north of town.
According to chairman Doug Rodgers, the doors will open up this year beginning at 6 p.m.
While the night’s barbecue meal is one of the event’s biggest drawing cards each year, another is the modest sized crowd that has a very good chance to take home a variety of items offered through raffles, a silent auction, and the live auction.
“We’re going to have another good package of DU collectible items and sporting merchandise,” said Rodgers. “We’ll have some great framed wildlife artwork, a good selection of DU limited edition firearms, other sporting firearms, some wildlife sculptures, hunting gear, and some door prizes too.”
Rodgers said that 2017 ticket prices will give Whitesboro attendees their barbecue dinner and a year’s membership in DU. What’s more, prices are unchanged from a year ago, which means that it will cost $25 for youth, $35 for singles, and $45 for couples.
