Denison fans could see a familiar sight on Thursday night — but it’s something that hasn’t happened since 2009.

Former Yellow Jacket quarterback Jordan Taylor has been added to the quarterback depth chart for the Denver Broncos’ preseason game against the Arizona Cardinals after regular back-up Paxton Lynch was ruled out with an injury and starter Trevor Siemian will be the back-up. Kyle Sloter will start against the Cardinals and is expected to play the entire game.

“I would assume it’s just going to be strictly probably running the ball, handing it off but they might dial up a few quick gain passes here and there, just in case, certain situations,” Taylor said to reports after head coach Vance Joseph announced the move Monday.

The last time Taylor played quarterback was in leading Denison to the state semifinals his senior year and finished as the Jackets’ all-time leader with 3,729 passing yards and 40 touchdowns to go with 2,509 yards (ninth all-time) and 39 touchdowns rushing and was a two-time honorable mention all-state selection.

He then switched to receiver at Rice before signing with the Broncos as an undrafted free agent. Taylor earned a Super Bowl ring as a member of the practice squad in 2015 and had 16 catches for 209 yards and two touchdowns as a rookie last season.
