EAST MEADOW, N.Y. — Denison’s Lindsay Looney took the gold in the 400 individual medley at the Junior National Championships on Wednesday night at the Nassau County Aquatics Center.


Looney earned the championship in 4:47.42, which was 0.05 seconds ahead of second-place Kristen Romano. Katie Glavinovich was third at 4:47.60.


Looney initially finished second before Olivia Carter was disqualified.


The title goes with her runner-up finish in the 200 butterfly on Tuesday night. Her effort of 2:09.22 was also the fourth-fastest U.S. time in the event for her age group of 15-16 years old.


On Thursday night, she won the B final and was ninth in the 100 butterfly at with a time of 1:00.64.


She will compete in the 200 free on Friday and the 50 free and 200 IM on Saturday to close out the meet.
