Two members of the Sherman Elite Track Team qualified for the 2017 State Games of America after their performances at the Texas Amateur Athletic Federation Summer Games last weekend.

Denison’s Kzaria Butler and Howe’s Braeden Ulmer were invited to attend the event this weekend in Grand Rapids, Mich.

Butler is an 11-year-old student at B. McDaniel Middle School and competes in the 100 and the 400 relay.

Ulmer, a Howe native, competes in the 10-and-under shot put.

The State Games of America is an Olympic-style event between medal winners from across the nation. Texas is one of 30 states which hold state games to determine national qualifiers.
