Denison resident Jessie Elliott Jr. recently competed in the National Veterans Golden Age Games in Biloxi, Mississippi.
Elliott placed third in golf in the men’s 70-74 ambulatory age group, shooting a round of 82. An avid golfer who last week shot lower than his age at Tanglewood Resort, Elliott has won the golf competition in five of the last eight years.
Elliott, who has been participating in the Games since 2009, also entered the air rifle event, placing 27th with a score of 94.1. He also competed in bowling, compiling a two-game total of 229, and participated in horseshoes.
The National Veterans Golden Age Games offer sports and recreational competitive events for veterans 55 years of age and older. The Games continue to serve as a showcase for the rehabilitation value that wellness and fitness provide in the lives of older Americans. The 2018 Games are scheduled for Aug. 3-8 in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
