Gunter’s Jace Williams, a 9-year-old dirt bike racer, has qualified for the largest amateur moto-cross race in the world, the 36th Annual Rocky Mountain ATV/MC AMA Amateur National Motocross Championship, presented by Lucas Oil, to be held next week at the historic Loretta Lynn Ranch in Tennessee.
Jace took on more than 22,000 hopefuls from across America and is one of only 42 kids who will compete in the highly competitive 51-cc (7-8) Limited class.
Jace, who attends Gunter Elementary, will enter the fourth grade this fall. He has been riding dirt bikes since he was three years old and has won 61 races in the last two years, including two state championships. The Willliams family is the new owner of Sherman Powersports, which is Jace’s sponsor.
The Williams family will make the long journey to Hurricane Mills, Tenn. for the event, which runs July 31 through Aug. 5. They will be camping onsite for the week-long event, and will also participate in many non-racing evening activities.
