Notes:

After two to nine inches of rainfall across the region over the past week, some area lakes and rivers are higher than normal. Be extra cautious of floating debris and/or submerged objects under the water’s surface….It’s time to start thinking about applying for Texas Parks and Wildlife Department drawn hunts for the 2017-18 season. TPWD indicates that once again, various types of hunts will be available this fall on lands that include U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service National Wildlife Refuges, some private lands, and many state wildlife management areas. Each entry will cost anywhere from $0 to $10 (Youth Only category entries are free) and the first application deadlines are Aug. 1. For information, call 800-792-1112 or visit the TPWD Web site at www.tpwd.texas.gov…The Mule Deer Foundation (MDF) announced this week that Trevor Keeler of Atoka, Okla. won the recent drawing for a Colorado special deer license. “I can’t believe I won, I bought six tickets and my wife also bought six tickets” said Keeler in a MDF news release.
