Led by the Class 2A state champion Bells Lady Panthers, there were 21 area softball players to earn all-state honors by the Texas Sports Writers Association for the 2017 season.
Sherman’s Jill Dixon was an honorable mention all-state selection at shortstop in Class 5A.
In Class 4A, Melissa pitcher Alexis Pevehouse and third baseman Audrey Solomon were honorable mention all-state.
Whitewright third baseman Sage Harlow was named third-team all-state in Class 3A while Pilot Point pitcher Christine Billmeier, Pottsboro first baseman Kendal Rainey and Whitewright first baseman Zada Swoopes were honorable mention all-state.
After winning the title, Bells’ Kristina Stephens was named the Class 2A Coach of the Year.
The Lady Panthers were well represented — pitcher Cheyenne Floyd, outfielder Bella Smith and Katie Branam, in the designated player/utility spot were first-team all-state selections.
Catcher Ashley Sloan and third baseman C.J. Crane were third-team all-state picks and shortstop Kylie Stubbs was named honorable mention all-state.
Six Tom Bean players were all-state choices. Second baseman Taylor Williams was a first-team selection, pitcher Annie Bailey and shortstop Ellie Bailey were on the third team and catcher Shelby Motley, outfielder Ashlie Cass and designated player/utility Baylee Stautzenberger were honorable mention all-state.
Dodd City third baseman Lindsay Carter and outfielder Fallon Hilliard were all-state honorable mention selections.
