Former Sherman Bearcat and Baylor Bear defensive back Ryan Reid has signed with the Los Angeles Chargers.

In his senior season at Baylor, the 5-foot-11 Reid intercepted three passes while earning a place on the honorable mention All-Big 12 team. In all, Reid started 37 games at Baylor and played in a total of 45.

Reid’s signing was announced on Thursday. He joins a crop of rookie defensive backs that include Rayshawn Jenkins, Desmond King and undrafted free agent Michael Davis, who has impressed early in the offseason program.

In May, Reid received an invitation to minicamp with the Minnesota Vikings, but did not sign with the club.

The Chargers will have their mandatory minicamp next week in San Diego.

The Chargers are coached by Anthony Lynn, a Celina native.
