PARIS — Kamryn Fulenchek scored on an error in the bottom of the sixth inning to lift Howe to a 7-6 victory against Hooks in the opener of a Class 3A Region II semifinal series at Paris Chisum on Thursday night.
Howe (22-7) will try to sweep the series tonight at 6 p.m. at Chisum. If Hooks forces a deciding game, it will immediately follow.
Hooks had scored in the top of the sixth to tie the game before Peyton Streetman reached on the one-out error to allow Fulenchek, who was 2-for-3, to score the deciding run.
Torrey Stubblefield worked around a one-out single in the seventh to get the win. She was 3-for-4 with a home run, double, three RBI and scored twice, Streetman was 2-for-4, drove in a run and scored and Kayla Anderson was 2-for-3 and drove in a run for the Lady Bulldogs.
Class 2A Region II
Moody 10, Bells 9
FORT WORTH — The Bells Lady Panthers suffered a walk-off loss against Moody in the opener of a Class 2A Region II semifinal series at Fort Worth Brewer on Thursday night.
Moody will try to sweep the series at 6 p.m. tonight at Brewer. If Bells (27-3) forces a deciding game, it will immediately follow.
The game was tied at nine in the bottom of the seventh when a weather delay occurred in the middle of the frame before Moody scored the winning run.
Class 3A Region II
Gunter 7, Farmersville 4
ANNA — Bo Whitteker was 2-for-4 with a two-run double and got the final two outs, including the last with the bases loaded to save Gunter’s Game 1 victory against Farmersville in a Class 3A Region II quarterfinal series on Thursday night.
Gunter (30-6) will go for the sweep tonight at 7:30 p.m. at Anna. If Farmersville (24-8) forces a deciding game, it will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
Bryson Jolly had a two-run homer during the Tigers’ three-run seventh inning to break a tie that Farmersville forged at four with a run in the bottom of the sixth.
Zach Lowe was 2-for-4 and scored, Daylan Bower was 2-for-4 with a double, Dillon Tinajero added an RBI single and Matt Hunter singled and scored for Gunter.
Lyle Hibbitts and Chase Hacker homered for Farmersville.
Whitesboro 8, Edgewood 3
HEATH — The Whitesboro Bearcats opened their Class 3A Region II quarterfinal series with a victory against Edgewood at Rockwall Heath on Thursday night.
Whitesboro (21-9) will try to sweep the series at 6 p.m. on Saturday at Rockwall Heath. If Edgewood (24-10) forces a deciding game, it will immediately follow.
