AUSTIN — The Callisburg girls golf team finished as the Class 3A runner-up at the state tournament on Tuesday.
Callisburg shot a combined 728 — 367-361 — and was bested only by Sonora, which shot a 702 and won its fourth straight state championship. Rockdale was only five shots behind Callisburg going into the final round and finished 34 strokes back with the bronze medal.
Brenna Ballard led the Lady Wildcats with a 170 and was 10th in the standings while Lindsey Bullard tied for 12th with a 179. Emma Wells tied for 21st with a 184, Morgan Parker tied for 30th with a 194 and Tori Hawkins tied for 58th with a 222.
Howe finished eighth in the standings with a combined 795 and was four shots from seventh place and two strokes in front of Brock.
Charlsee Carter led the Lady Bulldogs with a 189 and was 25th, Meradith Ross shot a 194 and was tied for 30th, Peyton Groves was at 195 and finished 32nd, Anna Counts was 56th with a 217 and Molly Wilson was 64th with a 228.
Comfort’s Loren Nevers shot a 156 to win the individual state title.
The Tioga girls golf team just missed out on a second straight bronze medal after a fourth-place finish in the Class 1A state tournament on Tuesday.
The Lady Bulldogs shot a combined 813 for fourth and was five shots behind third-place Happy. Blanket won the state championship with a 756 and Utopia was the runner-up at 785.
Emily Adlof led Tioga with a 193 that put her 11th in the field. Peyton Moore was 16th with a 196, Demi Wilson tied for 28th with a 205, Brittany Barnett tied for 47th with a 224 and Destini Maness shot a 229 and was 53rd.
Blanket’s Marki Kinkade won the individual state title with a 160.
