MONTICELLO, Ark. — Southeastern’s late rally came up just short as the 2017 season came to an end Saturday in a 6-5 loss at Arkansas-Monticello in the opening round of the Great American Conference Tournament.

The loss brings the year to a close with a 16-29-1 record.

Cade Clay, Hunter Harrison, Jett Swigart and Ty Hanson each had a hit in the contest, with Hanson connecting on a two-run homer while Harrison and Brett Akins each drove in a run.

Hayden Grimes got the start and tossed 2.2 innings while allowing two runs on three hits with two strikeouts and ended up taking the loss.

A Harrison sacrifice fly plated Travis Spinney in the top of the first inning and gave the Storm a 1-0 lead out of the gate.
