WHITESBORO — Riley Marshall was 2-for-4, drove in two runs and scored twice as third-place S&S clinched a playoff spot with a 10-3 victory against Whitesboro in District 9-3A action on Friday afternoon.
Jada Muller was 2-for-4 with two doubles, drove in a run and scored twice while striking out 13 for the win, Haylee Mahan and Taylor Blanscett each singled and drove in runs for S&S (11-9, 6-4), which scored six runs in the fifth inning.
Devyn Power homered, Jenna Eugster doubled and scored and Bailey Clark doubled and drove in a run for Whitesboro (4-12, 2-8).
Pilot Point 9, Gunter 1
PILOT POINT — Hannah Sullivan was 3-for-3 with two doubles and four RBI as Pilot Point clinched the district’s top seed for the playoff and at least a share of the 9-3A title with a victory against Gunter on Friday night.
Dani Medina doubled and drove in three runs, Mercedez Lane added an RBI double and Christine Billmeier allowed just two hits and struck out 11 for Pilot Point (25-1, 10-0), which will earn the district title outright with one more victory or a Pottsboro loss.
Elizabeth Schroeter doubled for Gunter (5-17, 3-8), which is a game back of Callisburg for the district’s final playoff spot and half-game behind Ponder for fifth place.
Howe 5, Farmersville 0
FARMERSVILLE — Torrey Stubblefield threw a two-hit shutout with five strikeouts and two walks as second-place Howe clinched a playoff spot with a victory against Farmersville on Friday.
Emily Sanders was 2-for-3 with a double, home run and scored twice, Peyton Streetman was 3-for-3 with two doubles and scored, Kayla Anderson was 3-for-4 with a double, drove in a run and scored and Payton Griffin doubled and drove in two runs for Howe (15-7, 8-3), which is a game ahead of Leonard.
Farmersville fell a game behind Whitewright for the district’s final playoff spot with two games left in the season.
