Tori Herrera struck out 13 batters, tossed her second career no-hitter, and broke her own single season Austin College record for strikeouts as the ’Roo softball team swept a doubleheader with Brooklyn College, 9-1 and 13-0, on Thursday night.

Austin College (7-29) got on the board quickly in game one, with Ashley Mayorga singling home a pair of runs and Emily Low bringing home another with a sacrifice fly to make it 3-0 after the first inning.

Brooklyn got one run back in the second, but four runs in the third, highlighted by a two-run home by Cassidy McDaris, blew the game open for the ‘Roos.

In Game 2, Herrera struck out 13 of the 16 batters she faced, with the lone base runner reaching via error. Austin College once again jumped out to a 3-0 lead after the first inning, with Proctor, McDaris, and Felicia Rivera each singling home a run and Taylor Van Kirk was 2-for-3 with four RBI.

Herrera didn’t walk any batters and needed only 57 pitches to get the no-hitter, with 50 of those pitches going for strikes.
