DENTON — David Bedgood scattered six hits and struck out six in 6 2/3 innings as Sherman defeated Denton, 4-2, in District 5-5A action on Friday night.
Blaine Bethel earned the save, Ben Cross had two hits, walked twice and drove in a run, Trey Holtzclaw doubled and drove in two runs and Ethan Bedgood drove in a run for Sherman (8-9, 1-1).
David Bedgood had a shutout going into the seventh before giving up an RBI single and leaving the mound. Denton rallied and had the winning run at the plate before Bethel came on and induced a popup for the final out.
District 9-3A Pottsboro 11, Pilot Point 0 (5)
PILOT POINT — Hunter Watson allowed one hit and four walks while striking out six and doubled and drove in two runs as Pottsboro run-ruled Pilot Point.
Jake Williams was 2-for-3 with three RBI and scored, Coby Langford was 2-for-4 with two RBI and scored, Hunter Flanagan walked twice and scored and Max Dodd scored twice for Pottsboro (11-3, 2-1).
Coy Holman had the only hit for Pilot Point (1-11, 0-2) while Caden Koerbacher, J.J. Kulesz, Hunter Kulesz and Michael Walker walked.
District 10-3A Van Alstyne 2, Farmersville 0 (9)
FARMERSVILLE — Tyler Wilson and Hunter Hutchison each drove in runs in the ninth inning as Van Alstyne outlasted Farmersville.
Rhett Gallagher allowed just two hits and two walks while striking out 14 in eight innings of work and Samuel Tormos struck out the side in the ninth, but not after Farmersville had loaded the bases on walks with no outs against Chandler David and Tormos.
Van Alstyne (8-3, 2-1) did not have a hit until the ninth inning when Gallagher walked with two outs before singles by Luke Hundt, Wilson and Hutchison produced the only runs of the game.
Lyle Hibbits earned a no-decision for Farmersville (11-6, 1-1) by striking out 16 and walked three over seven hitless innings.
Leonard 10, Lone Oak 0 (6)
LONE OAK — Mason Rhone threw a three-hit shutout, striking out 12 and walking two as Leonard beat Lone Oak.
Chance Sanderson was 3-for-3 with two double and a triple, drove in two runs and scored twice, Michael Shulze was 3-for-4 with a triple and scored three times, Ryan Burnett was 3-for-4 with a double, drove in a run and scored twice and Sam Clark was 3-for-4, drove in a run and scored for Leonard (6-6-2, 2-0).
District 10-2A Valley View 11, Collinsville 4
VALLEY VIEW — Coby Riley was 2-for-3 with a double, drove in two runs and scored during Collinsville’s loss against Valley View.
Garrett Vannoy was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI, Cayden Bailey was 2-for-2 and scored and Austin Reed was 2-for-4 for Collinsville.
Non-district Melissa 10, F. Lebanon Tr. 0 (5)
MELISSA — Andrew Cole and Krisjon Segleski combined to strike out seven and not allow a base runner in Melissa’s run-rule victory against Frisco Lebanon Trail.
Tate Whittington was 3-for-3 with a double, drove in a run and scored three times, Adam Davis was 2-for-2 with a double and scored twice, David Crees was 2-for-2 and scored, Andrew Cole was 2-for-2, Brady Morrison drove in two runs and Kyle Leonard doubled and drove in a run for Melissa (5-12-1).
Trimble Tech 12, Anna 7
ANNA — Zach Howard was 2-for-4 with a double, drove in a run and scored twice during Anna’s loss against Fort Worth Trimble Tech.
Koy Harris was 2-for-3, drove in a run and scored, Lawrence Goade was 2-for-4 and scored twice, Daniel Scott scored twice and Marshall Good drove in a run for Anna (7-6-3).
Bonham 10, Alvarado 1
FRISCO — Cody Easley was 3-for-4 with a double, drove in five runs and scored as Bonham beat Alvarado in non-district action at Dr Pepper Ballpark on Saturday.
Trevor Hartwell was 4-for-4 with a double, drove in a run, scored three times and allowed a run on two hits to get the victory, Corey Hartwell was 2-for-3 and scored twice, Austin Fortune doubled and drove in two runs and Austin Simmerman scored twice for Bonham (9-6-1).
In non-district action on Friday, Trevor Hartwell doubled for Bonham’s only hit and drove in a run during the Warriors’ 11-1 loss to Argyle in six innings.
