POTTSBORO — Zya Nugent scored 22 points as Denison opened the Pottsboro Tournament with a 47-36 victory against Whitesboro on Thursday.


Zachareia Sommers added eight points, Ikia Lacy chipped in six points and Taryn Gaines and Olivia Marr totaled four points apiece for Denison (7-4), which has already matched its win total from last season. The Lady Jackets face host Pottsboro today at 10:15 a.m. as tourney play continues.


Karlee Schuessler scored 14 points, Lauren Purdom chipped in 11 points and Casey Monk added seven points for Whitesboro.


Pottsboro 55, Sherman 31


POTTSBORO — Madeline O’Hanlon had 15 points and 11 rebounds as Pottsboro defeated Sherman at its tournament on Thursday.


Haiden Williams totaled 12 points, four steals and three assists, Kenzie Wade scored seven points and Hatty Shope and Riley Westervelt chipped in six points apiece for Pottsboro.


Jahmaria Tavie scored eight points while Te’aira McShan, Libby Ticknor, Alyssa Rushing and Bre’Shaun Luper all finished with four points for Sherman.


The Lady Cardinals (9-0) closed out the day with a 61-32 victory over Bonham. Wade scored 15 points, O’Hanlon had 12 points, 10 rebounds and four assists, Williams added nine points and four assists and Pyper James and Carlee Gearinger totaled eight points apiece.


Pottsboro will face Denison today at 10:15 a.m. as tournament play continues.


S&S Tournament


Howe 62, S&S 24


SADLER — Peyton Streetman scored 13 points as Howe defeated the host Lady Rams at the S&S Tournament on Thursday.


Madisyn Hargrove added nine points, Landry Rhoten finished with eight points and seven rebounds, Kayla Anderson and Callie Vick each totaled eight points and Ally Harvey contributed seven points and nine rebounds for Howe (5-3), which advanced to today’s semifinals.


Texoma Christian 60, Collinsville 48


SADLER — Claire Olmstead had 33 points, 5 steals, four assists and four rebounds as Texoma Christian opened the S&S Tournament with a victory against Collinsville on Thursday.


Caroline Sild added 14 points, three rebounds and three steals and Madi Wagnitz totaled seven points, seven rebounds and three assists for Texoma Christian, which advanced to today’s semifinals.


Brittney Fields scored 17 points and Talyn Price added 13 points for Collinsville.


Granbury Tournament


Whitewright 36, Burleson Centennial 24


GRANBURY — Zada Swoopes had 19 points and nine rebounds as Whitewright defeated Burleson Centennial in the Granbury Tournament on Thursday.


Jolie Donaldson added six points and three rebounds and Zoe Magnuson finished with five points and six rebounds for Whitewright.


Fairfield Tournament


Melissa 44, Crockett 35


FAIRFIELD — Krista Butterfield scored 13 points as Melissa started the Fairfield Tournament with a victory over Crockett on Thursday night.


Charley Lane added eight points, Taylor Carney finished with seven points and Sally Clemmons totaled six points for Melissa, which continues tourney action today at noon against Madisonville.


Petrolia Tournament


Van Alstyne 42, Henrietta 32


PETROLIA — Maegan Thomas scored 12 points as Van Alstyne opened the Petrolia Tournament with a victory against Henrietta on Thursday.


Treylee Neill and Madison Reno each scored nine points for Van Alstyne (9-3).


Celeste Tournament


Fruitvale 33, Trenton 27


CELESTE — Bria Green scored 12 points during Trenton’s loss to Fruitvale in the Celeste Tournament on Thursday.


Jessica Withrow added eight points and Rikki Foreman totaled five points for Trenton (5-4), which takes on Sam Rayburn at 10:30 a.m. and then Leonard at 8:30 p.m. today as tournament play continues.


Wills Point Tournament

WILLS POINT — Angel Dube scored five points in Anna’s loss against Malakoff to open the Wills Point Tournament on Thursday.
