The Austin College men’s basketball team trailed by as much as 17 late in the second half and a comeback bid came up short as the ‘Roos fell 80-72 to visiting Jarvis Christian College on Wednesday night in Hughey Gym.

The ‘Roos (2-4) struggled shooting the ball for much of the night, finishing with a team field-goal percentage of just 36.1 percent compared to a 47.2-percent mark for Jarvis Christian, and Austin College also made just 18-of-35 free throws, including 7-of-18 in the second half. Still, the ‘Roos found themselves within six points with under a minute to play but were unable to close the gap.

Three-pointers from Brian Baehl, Austin Wells, Andres Rivera, and Will Kollet helped Austin College get the lead down to 78-72 but a pair of Jarvis Christian free throws iced things in the final moments.

Baehl scored 18 points and added six rebounds and five assists for the ‘Roos, while Wells finished with 13 points.
