HOUSTON — Blake Smith scored off an assist from Ben Watson three minutes into the second overtime as Texoma Christian defeated Austin Waldorf, 2-1, in a TAPPS Division I state quarterfinal match at Awty International School on Thursday.

Texoma Christian (20-1-2) will face Bethesda Christian, the team it tied and beat on the way to the District 1 title, in a state semifinal at 5 p.m. tonight. Defending champion Longview Christian Heritage and Houston British School meet in the other semifinal earlier in the day. The championship match is at noon on Saturday.

It is the seven straight season the Eagles have reached the state semifinals and the program is chasing its third championship, the first since 2010.

Blake Burley’s unassisted goal gave TCS a 1-0 half-time lead before Waldorf tied it 15 minutes into the second half. The score remained that way and through the first 10-minute overtime until Smith’s winning goal.

Zach Walston made 13 saves, including one just after Burley’s goal to maintain the lead, for the Eagles.
