McKINNEY — The Sherman and Denison cross-country teams competed at the District 13-4A meet on Thursday at Myers Park with the Denison girls placing fifth and the Sherman boys claiming sixth place.
Sherman’s Mason Perales led the Bearcats in 13th place at 17:36, followed by Samuel Dick in 17th at 17:55 and Matt Schulze was 35th at 19:05. Eladio Lira (19:22), John Marlow (19:30), Kevin Escobar (19:43) and Austin White (1958) were all in the top 50.
Denison finished seventh behind Lance Hefner’s 23rd-place finish in 18:05. Matthew Arbuckle (18:54), Alex Castillo (19:05), Gavin O’Brien (19:19) and Devin Perez (20:20) were all in the top 50.
On the girls side, Angel O’Brien led Denison with a 20th-place finish in 22:28 while Breana Harmon was 23rd at 22:36 and Lexi Mulkey was 25th in 22:41. Callie Meek (23:02), Haley Lemming (23:25) and Madison Kinsey (23:29) were all in the top 35.
Sherman’s Madison Clinton was 16th with a time of 21:50 while Gracie Ferguson was 24th in 22:37. Veronica Sosa (23:43), Celeste Ramos (24:11) and Naidelyn Mendoza (25:09 all had top 50 finishes as the Lady Bearcats took sixth.
The McKinney North girls and the Lovejoy boys claimed the team titles. Wylie East produced both individual champions. Sarah Scott won in 19:29 while Grant Buley finished first at 16:19.
