Two local residents are among those receiving scholarships from the Texas Interscholastic League Foundation.


Mathew Thomas Derichsweiler, a graduate of Denison High School, has received the $14,000 Welch Foundation Scholarship. It is payable $1,750 each semester for the first four years of higher education. The Welch Foundation Scholarships are awarded to students who have participated in the University Interscholastic League Academic State Meet and who plan to major in chemistry, biochemistry or chemical engineering.


Alyssa Nicole Reeves, a graduate of Whitewright High School, received the $500 Texas State &Solo Ensemble Contest Scholarship. It is payable the first year of higher education and is awarded to students selected as outstanding soloists at the UIL State Solo &Ensemble Contest and who have compiled an outstanding record of academic and extracurricular achievement.
