DALLAS — Police are investigating what caused the death of a 32-year-old man who died in police custody hours after being arrested for traffic violations.

Dallas police say Brian Michael Hunter was found unresponsive in his cell early Tuesday morning and taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Authorities say his vehicle was stopped Monday evening after Hunter made an unsafe lane change. He was taken to the Dallas detention center when he was found to have outstanding traffic warrants.

Police say they’re not sure whether a medical condition may have contributed to Hunter’s death.

Investigators are reviewing video footage from the detention center and police stop for clues. They’re also determining why Hunter was moved from the center’s general population to an isolation cell, where he was found unresponsive.
