SHERMAN — New Birth Cathedral of Praise will celebrate their 22nd Church Anniversary at 3:30 p.m Sunday.


This year’s theme is "Running the Race of Faith" based on Heb. 12:1, 2.


Rev. James Hutchins, pastor of New Life Community Church in Frisco, will be guest speaker for the service, accompanied by his choir and congregation.


He accepted his ministry call in 1984, and was ordained as an elder by Bishop Harry Smith of Louisville Ky. In 1982 he married "Tina" , his high school sweetheart. They have three children, Tinesha, Jasmine, Terrence (T.J.) and a grandson, Jaylen.


Rev. Hutchins spent more than 20 years in the U.S. Navy, retiring in June of 2000. Rev. Hutchins, who has ministered throughout the country and world, is a graduate of Columbia College and Troy State University.


Everyone, including former members, are encouraged to come and help them celebrate this special occasion.


Dinner will be served at 1 p.m. following the 10:30 a.m. services.


The church is located at 2310 N. Travis St. in Sherman. Ample parking is available at the rear of the church. Rev. C.H. Brown Jr. is the pastor and Bishop C.H. Brown Sr. is senior pastor.
