Conservative Republicans strive to slow and prevent the implementation of the abomination called Obamacare. This disaster, unread by those who passed it, lied about by its proponents, was tricked into passage in the Senate and was rewritten by the Supreme Court to legitimize its flagrant unconstitutionality, intrudes on the liberty of American citizens in a big government power grab.

Our constitution, purposefully gives appropriations responsibility to the House of Representatives, as a check and balance to which President Obama objects because it restricts his power. He has bypassed these checks and balances in his effort to promote federal powers, and control the American people, our economy, and the private lives of citizens.

President Obama and the Democrats have attempted to hurt the American people, apparently to further the big government agenda led by Obamacare, the IRS, the NSA, gun control and the radical over reach of executive branch agencies. The conservatives in the House of Representatives and a few in the Senate stand against this train wreck because they campaigned and were elected on that promise.

The House passed appropriations to reduce the impact of this government shutdown on citizens, veterans, National Park users, and the National Institute of Health, which President Obama, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and the Democratically controlled Senate rejected, apparently because these discomforts and worse suffered by Americans are politically expedient for these politicians.

Obamacare is not well-intentioned relief for the underinsured, uninsured or those with pre-existing conditions. The facts of its outrageous costs, botched implementation, damage to the American medical system, which, even with its drawbacks, has been the best in the world, and damage to middle class working Americans is already being experienced.

As a nation our blessings and our challenges are many. We will face these challenges head on with leadership from our citizenry. Washington leadership thinks the answers are all in DC. I believe in the strength of the free American citizens who cannot be held hostage because they are not dependent on bloated, corruption-ridden, self-expanding federal government.
