LEONARD — The Leonard Tigers put up 48 first-half points and Solomon Titus rushed for 146 yards and three touchdowns in a 62-14 victory against Bells in District 7-2A (II) play on Friday night.

LEONARD — The Leonard Tigers put up 48 first-half points and Solomon Titus rushed for 146 yards and three touchdowns in a 62-14 victory against Bells in District 7-2A (II) play on Friday night.


Leonard (6-1, 2-0) opened the scoring when Justin Bennett connected with Ryan Nixon on a 23-yard touchdown pass only two and half minutes into the contest. On the Tigers’ next drive Titus carried 26 yards to the Bells one and he scored on the next play to extend Leonard’s lead.


John Rosenbaum intercepted a Bells pass at the Leonard 30-yard line. On the next play Bennett connected on a pass to Ty McKinney to the four-yard line. Titus sprinted in from four yards out and three minutes later he had a 44-yard scoring run.


Bells (1-6, 0-2) scored at the beginning of the second quarter when Noah Straw outran the Tigers’ defense on a 90-yard sprint.


Nixon scored from nine and seven yards out and Dylan Monck broke free on a 55-yard run to account for the Tigers’ touchdowns before halftime.


Rosenbaum intercepted his second pass to give Leonard a first down at the Bells 34. Two plays later Bennett found the end zone with a 24-yard run for a 55-7 advantage with 8:23 remaining in the third quarter.


Leonard turned the offense over to junior varsity quarterback Brexx Shurr, who scored on a 44-yard run.


Straw, who finished with 206 yards on 15 carries, added a 16-yard touchdown run for Bells.


"It was a good win for us tonight," Leonard head coach Shane Fletcher said. "We have to play better on defense and play our A game next week against Gunter."


Leonard will travel to Gunter on Friday in a battle of district unbeatens.
