• Grace United Methodist, 2800 Canyon Creek, Sherman will host their annual Fall Festival and Trunk-or-Treat Oct. 27 starting at 5:30 p.m. There will be games, prizes, pictures for children and parents, as well as hot dogs. Trunk-or-Treating will start at 6:30 p.m. No scary costumes. All the activities are free, including the hot dogs.


• First Baptist, Sherman will hold an Annual Fall Festival Oct. 27 from 3-6 p.m. in the Westwood Village Shopping Center, 106B Sunset Blvd., next to Apple Foods in Sherman. Bring the family for games, food and fellowship.


• Free children’s costume contest (0 to 12 years of age) Sunday, Oct. 27, at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2772 in Sherman, 1 p.m. until 3 p.m.


• Halloween Pajama Story Time from 6:30 to 7:15 p.m. Oct. 29 at the Sherman Public Library — young children and their caregivers are invited to come in costume to this free event and enjoy spooky picture books, songs, puppets and other activities;


• Sherman Police Association Fright Festival from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 31 at the Sherman Municipal Grounds, 405 N. Rusk St. — young and old are invited to the annual trick-or-treat festival that draws local businesses and organizations to set up booths and hand out candy to youngsters in a safe and supervised environment. The event includes a live band.


• Monsters on Main in downtown Denison on Oct. 31. Free trick-or-treating will be from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. The "Haunted Alley" behind Denison Hotel can be explored for a $1 per person fee. A family-friendly, free "Graveyard and Ghosts" program will be in the new pocket park, and a free costume contest will begin at 7 p.m. in Heritage Park.


• Encore performance of Frankenstein 1930 and a Creature Costume Contest Oct. 31, 8 p.m., Finley Theater in Sherman. Tickets are $16 for adults and $8 for students and can only be purchased the night of the performance, starting at 7 p.m.


• Forest Avenue Baptist’s annual "Trunk or Treat" will take place from 6-8 p.m. Oct. 31 on the church parking lot. There will be lots of games and candy for the kids. Hot dogs and drinks will also be available for the adults and children. Join them for a great time. (Everything’s free!) The church is located at 106 W. Forest Ave. in Sherman.


• Cottonwood Creek, 2501 Sunset St. in Denison will have a Family Fall Festival from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Oct. 31. There will be bounce houses, mini train rides, carnival games, food and candy.


• Lakeway United Methodist in Pottsboro will have their annual Trunk or Treat on Oct. 31 from 6-8 p.m. Bring your kids for a safer alternative to trick or treating.


• "Pumpkins in the Park" Fall Festival will take place at Parkside Baptist Church, 301 N. Lillis Lane in Denison, from 6-8 p.m. Oct. 31. Everyone is invited to this free fall festival which will feature 30 kid-friendly carnival games and hay rides. Concessions are available for a small cost.


• Southside Baptist in Denison is having a "Trunk and Treat" from 6:30-8 p.m. Oct. 31. All are welcome to join them for a time of fun, food and games. The church is located at 3500 S. Park Ave. in Denison.


• Calvary Baptist, Sherman will hold a "Trunk or Treat" from 7-9 p.m. Oct. 31 on the parking lot of the Family Center, Hwy. 75 service road. Take the Center St. exit.
