Tom Bean (3-4, 0-2) managed just 98 yards on 38 carries and needed to go to the air against Gunter (6-1, 2-0), which scored 41 unanswered points starting in the second quarter and finished with 504 rushing yards on 42 carries.


Devyn Jackson scored on a seven-yard pass from Hunter Book to give the Tomcats the lead less than a minute into the second quarter.


Kevin Teems pulled Gunter even with a 26-yard run on the next possession and the Tigers jumped in front to stay when Hunter scored from 21 yards out two minutes later.


Austen Gressett added a two-yard TD run as Gunter took a 21-7 halftime lead.


Hunter had a one-yard run for the only touchdown in the third quarter and then raced 84 yards for his final TD with 7:39 left in the game. Seth Brewer finished off the scoring with an 81-yard run late in the contest. Brewer had 115 yards on five runs while Teems totaled 92 on 11 rushes.


Gressett completed five-of-eight passes for 111 yards. Spenser Lashley made three catches for 92 yards.


Devyn Jackson led Tom Bean with 65 yards on 10 carries and Daniel Jackson finished with 49 yards on 10 carries. Book threw for 207 yards with 78 going to Colton Blomstedt and 74 to Tanner Ellis.


Gunter faces Leonard this week in a battle of first-place teams while Tom Bean travels to Whitewright.
