SHERMAN — An Ordination Service for Gregory Williams will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Greater Harvest North Church in Sherman.

Williams, born in St. Louis, Mo. and raised in Sacramento, Calif. graduated from John F. Kennedy High School in 1989. After graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Navy at age 17 and served four years in the submarine fleet. He received Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior on Resurrection Sunday, 1994. He attended Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Okla. and graduated with a BA in management in 2001. While attending school, he met and married his wife Shulene. They have three children, Elexus Justus and Myles. The family moved to Plano in 2006, and after an extensive search for a church home, they joined Greater Harvest North in 2009.

Since then Williams has been involved with GHN’s audio, visual and lighting team, worked the camera on Sundays and served in the men’s ministry. In 2011, Rev. Charles Niblet asked the men in a discipleship class if they knew what they were called to do. Greg responded that he felt God’s call to ministry and he wanted to respond to that call. The pastor acknowledged the call and began teaching and mentoring him. Williams preached his first sermon in 2011, and since then, continues to serve at GHN in whatever capacity is requested of him.

The public is invited to this special ordination service.

The church is currently located at 607 W. Burton St. in the Fairview Addition of Sherman.
