The Grayson County Regional Mobility Authority Board finalized plans on Thursday to reuse a concrete foundation in a lease agreement with the county’s Juvenile Services Department.

North Texas Regional Airport-Perrin Field Director Mike Shahan said the airport was glad to continue working with the Grayson County Department of Juvenile Services. "We’re very supportive of the Juvenile Detention Center (on the airport campus). They do good work. They’re very good neighbors. They have some of the nicest facilities on the airport."

Shahan said a 7,900-square-foot facility on the property will replace a structure that was torn down after it suffered extensive wind damage. "It helps to use the site. It’s going to look much better even than what was up there before the wind damage," Shahan said.

The ratified agreement leases more than 44,000 square feet of property to the Juvenile Services Department for $8,451 per year for a term of 10 years and 10 months. "It also helps to increase our revenue," Shahan said. "Contrary to popular belief, any facility (the county wants to build), they’re required to pay fair market value for it."

The Board also moved to approve its compliance report for fiscal year 2013. Shahan commented during his director’s update that the World Aerobatics Competition taking place at the airport will end with a "big airshow" conclusion on Oct. 19. He encouraged everyone to attend. The board set aside time for public comments, but no one from the audience addressed the board.
