The Bonham High School Mens Cross Country Team made history by qualifying for the UIL Region II-3A Cross Country Meet.

The Bonham High School Mens Cross Country Team made history by qualifying for the UIL Region II-3A Cross Country Meet.


The team of Josh Wilson, Logan Kirkpatrick, Lane Simpson, Dustin Wilcher, Marco Hernandez and Juan Salazar set out on the 3.1 mile course with perennial powers Melissa and Community. Josh Wilson set the pace for the Warriors, finishing 4th in the district with a time of 19:21.


Logan Kirkpatrick ran a personal best time of 19:48 to finish 7th. Juan Salazar, running in his first race of the season, completed the course in 21:07, good for 17th place. Lane Simpson’s powerful finishing kick saw him finish 18th with a time of 21:17. Marco Hernandez, also running in his first race of the year, finished 19th with a time of 21:49, and Dustin Wilcher finished the course in 22:12.


The Warriors finished the meet in third place with 57 points, one point better than Anna. The third place finish qualifies them to run in the Region II Meet on Saturday, November 2, in Grand Prairie.
