POTTSBORO — The Pottsboro Church of Christ meets at 9 a.m. for Bible study with classes available for all ages. DENISON — "Why Religion Is Still Necessary" is the topic of Dr. Elbert Hill’s sermon at 11:15 a.m. Sunday at Red River Unitarian Universalist Church. Based on a book by the Rev. Dr. Galen Gungerich, "God Revised: How Religion Must Evolve in a Scientific Age," the talk will explore the idea that, even though the traditional idea of a supernatural God no longer works in the age of science, humans still need the concept of God, redefined, to make sense of a "world that still holds more mystery than answers."
Dr. Hill is Emeritus Professor of English, Languages and Humanities at Southeastern Oklahoma State University and the immediate past president of the RRUU congregation. Children’s Religious Education will also meet at 11:15 for a story and a craft project. At 10 a.m., Adult Forum will continue watching and discussing a Great Courses video series of lectures about the rise of world religions.
