Editor’s note: This letter is in response to an article entitled, "Five Republicans aim to dethrone Hall," which appeared in the Dec. 14 edition of the Herald Democrat.


Your article appears to focus more on who can raise more money for the campaign with little emphasis on who the candidates are and what they say or believe and what they intend to do. I’ve met five of the six; they are mostly nice people with dramatically different life experience as preparation to represent us.


You seemed to do a fair job explaining John Ratcliffe (based on my research) but didn’t mention his partnership is in a major Washington lobbying firm (see opensecrets.org). You then dismissed Lou Gigliotti with the phrase "race car driver" as if that’s all he’s done.


I think people want to know he established and runs a specialty business shipping products worldwide and paying employees regularly for three decades. A long record of success in small business and a commitment to Texas jobs matters in this race. Please cover the full story as we go through the election cycle. People need the full truth.
