In today’s world, where information is expected to be immediate and gratification is instant, change is constant, and we’re constantly adapting to those changes.
You’ll notice one of those changes in today’s edition, with the elimination of the Viewpoints page. The move makes more room for local news — our core focus and where we dedicate the most time and resources to increase our quantity, quality and depth.
This won’t eliminate the columnists you’re used to seeing on that page, just where and when. Capitol Watch from Rep. Larry Phillips will be published on Tuesday’s opinion page; Crow’s feet chronicles by Cindy Baker Burnett will transition to Thursday’s life page. Let’s Reminisce from Jerry Lincecum and Adventures in Parenting from Managing Editor William C. Wadsack will both move to the Sunday life section starting on Aug. 19.
We will continue to evaluate everything from the structure of the printed product to our beats and the way we cover the community.
