As Texans plan their summer vacations, there are several state publications that can be helpful in planning trips across our great state. This week I will highlight a few of these publications.
Texas Highways is an award-winning monthly magazine published by the Texas Department of Transportation. It is also the official travel magazine of the state. Each issue has articles about events to attend, new restaurants to try, cultural and historical facts about different areas of the state, and a wealth of other information about travel in the state of Texas. You can find more information and subscribe to Texas Highways through the website https://www.texashighways.com/subscribe.
The Medallion is the Texas Historical Commission’s official quarterly magazine, which contains news and advice about preservation projects, Texas’ historic sites, and heritage tourism opportunities. The Medallion’s engaging photos and appealing graphics bolster the magazine’s impact in Texas’ preservation community. For more information on The Medallion, you can visit the Texas Historical Commission’s website at http://www.thc.texas.gov/forms/request-medallion.
Texas Parks & Wildlife magazine is the ultimate guide to enjoying the outdoors in the Lone Star state. There are great features in every issue that will provide ideas and help for all of kinds of outdoor hobbies. There are articles about state parks, photography, a great gear guide, angling, recipes, bird watching, and so much more in each edition. For more information, visit the Texas Department of Parks and Wildlife’s website at https://tpa.pcdfusion.com/pcd/Order?iKey=I**DPB .
Additionally I would encourage those planning a trip in Texas to visit theses agencies’ websites for more travel information. A few weeks ago I wrote a column regarding the Texas Armed Services Scholarship for college-bound students who will participate in the ROTC. If you or someone you know is interested in this scholarship, please contact my Austin office at 512-463-0297.
