I applaud Southmayd Councilor David Turner for doing due diligence to look into how TCOG is operating under Dr. Susan Thomas’ leadership.
I, too, have had interaction with TCOG, its staff and the people it serves, and I find it to be one of the most well-run, functional and compassionate organizations I have ever encountered. TCOG does a heroic job of filling in resource gaps for people in Grayson County living at or below the poverty level, and it enriches our community by helping build leaders, both within TCOG and outside, who can work effectively to bring about opportunity for all who live here.
As a facilitator for Bridges Out of Poverty, a framework that seeks to bring people of all economic classes to the table to help solve the issue of poverty in our county, I have seen TCOG take decisive action in support of the programs we as a county need to make life better for the least served in our community. I sincerely hope the TCOG board will take a hard look at the good being done under Dr. Thomas’ leadership and allow her to continue her stellar work.
