The Sherman Education Foundation’s 14th annual Circle of Success involves months of planning, and the results will be revealed at Austin College the evening of Thursday, March 27.

Each year, SEF and Sherman Independent School District celebrate excellence throughout the district at the dinner and recognition event. As an elementary educator put it: "This event brings into focus why we do what we do and inspires me to continue to do all I can to make each student successful."

The Circle of Success recognizes outstanding students, exceptional educators and the impact the community has made through funded projects. This year’s event will be no exception. SEF Executive Director Kathy Bickerstaff reports that committees are busy reviewing student nominations and grant requests, soliciting sponsorships and preparing for the event.

"It is a very busy time of year for SEF. There is much to do but the results are so rewarding," Bickerstaff said. "It is encouraging to see how successful our students have been throughout their years in SISD and how appreciative they are of the teachers that invested so much in their success."

Circle of Success Chairman Jennifer Shelby said, "The first time I attended this event. I was in awe of what we have here in Sherman — a district focused on excellence, dedicated individuals who support SISD and its mission and a generous community that I’m proud to be a part of."

Again this year, projects will be funded throughout the district that enrich the curriculum currently in place. Every dollar of funds raised stays in the district through the funded grants.

Over the years, SEF has piloted several technologies which are today found in every classroom; funded innovative teaching tools; and provided hands-on learning experiences in and out of the classroom, all totaling over $1.6 million.

"These projects funded districtwide to every campus greatly impact all students and allow them to experience a deeper level of learning," said SISD Superintendent Al Hambrick.
