Every year there is an opportunity for students of Sherman ISD to partake in a cultural arts program, entitled Reflections, that is facilitated by the Parent Teacher Association in schools that participate in the program. Students from kindergarten through high school have the opportunity to submit artwork in six different categories: visual arts, photography, literature, dance choreography, film production and musical composition.

Each year the National PTA adopts a new theme that the students will use when creating their artwork. This year’s theme was titled, "Believe, Dream, Inspire." Students are first judged locally. If they advance, they can move on to area judging and then to state judging.

Students from Sherman High School, Piner Middle School, Fairview Elementary School and Sory Elementary School received awards in the visual arts, photography and literature categories.

The results of state-level judging are now posted on the Texas PTA website and Junior Julianna Castillo received an Honorable Mention for her visual arts piece and seventh grader Emma Hammett received an Award of Merit for her visual arts entry.

Texas PTA will advance 30 entries to National PTA.
