During the month of March, Sherman ISD art teachers are sharing their passion for art with the entire community.

SISD art teachers are holding a faculty art show in the lobby of the SISD Service Center this month, and the SISD Board of Trustees will recognize the district’s fine arts programs at Monday’s regular meeting.

The art faculty will hold a reception from 6 to 7 p.m. The Board meeting begins at 7 p.m. Students, families and the community are welcomed to view the art and visit with the teachers.

Last year the first-ever faculty art show was a success, and this year the faculty increased the number of displays – each art teacher has two original works of art in his or her preferred media.

Sherman ISD Orchestra students will perform during the reception – another display of fine arts talent in Sherman ISD. Sherman High School Culinary Arts students will serve tasty refreshments and food for reception visitors.

The teachers’ art displays will augment the student art displays currently in the Service Center. Art teachers regularly rotate students’ artwork at the Service Center throughout each school year, and encourage parents, family and friends to visit the Service Center with their students to view the artwork.
