1. The biggest issues facing Grayson County over the next decade will be our increase in population and the strain that will be placed on our infrastructure. We are positioned between one of the fastest growing counties in Texas to our south and one of the fastest growing cities in Oklahoma. We need to plan regionally for our growth. The need of east west corridors in the southern part of the county and a comprehensive plan to ease the congestion on our northern boarder with Oklahoma as the tollway materializes are part of my vision for Grayson County. My goals for getting the county focused on the county business will prepare us to have a strong balance sheet when we need to make long-term infrastructure decisions. The next county judge will greatly influence the future of our citizens; it is imperative that we make wise decisions to reduce our tax rate to encourage both businesses and families to relocate to our county.

2. The primary role of the county judge is to preside over the five member commissioners court and prepare the county budget with the county auditor. I have served as county treasurer since 2011. I have a unique understanding of the county budget as all the income for the county comes through my office and my name is on every check written for county expenditures. This experience has allowed me to observe and implement changes to reduce expenditures by reviewing charges from outside entities; detecting potential errors that are costing the taxpayer’s money. Being the county judge requires good judgment, and I understand our opportunities to improve our internal operations. I also have great working relationships with elected and appointed officials that will promote a team environment and will improve our operations. My skills for bringing people together for a common cause will ensure a better and more efficient county government.
