1. My qualifications include a BA in Accounting from East Texas State University coupled with 7 years experience working for the Grayson County Tax Assessor-Collector. 2. To make the County Treasurer’s Office more efficient will take trust, understanding and teamwork between the Treasurer, employees, elected officials, and the public. I will challenge the staff to continuously re-examine, refine, and improve the procedures and priorities to maximize the county resources. I will monitor the allocation of all resources and expenditures of county funds while working with the County Judge, Commissioners Court and other elected officials. The Treasurer’s Office is more than being the custodian of county funds. It is an office of stewardship to the taxpayers of Grayson County. I will do my best make sure overspending and waste is not an issue for the taxpayers of Grayson County.

3. The County Treasurers Office was created by state legislature in 1849. Therefore, to eliminate the office would require a legislative change. The nine counties that do not currently have County Treasurers have given those duties to the Auditor’s Office. In most instants the only monies saved were the Treasurer’s and office overhead. The Auditor’s office had to employee additional personnel to accommodate the increase in duties. The loss of the check and balance created the need to use an independent auditing firm also costing the taxpayers extra money. These reasons make the Treasurer’s office a necessity.
