Grayson County voters choose former Sherman Mayor Bill Magers to replace current Grayson County Judge Drue Bynum come January.


Magers won with 51.09 percent of the overall vote in the Republican Primary Runoff Tuesday night.


Magers collected 4,937 of the 9,664 votes cast in the race. Grayson County Treasurer Trent Bass received 4,727 votes.


"It is gratifying that the voters of Grayson County bought into our positive message and campaign," Magers said. He said now that the election is over "it is time to get down to work for all of Grayson County." He said he wants to concentrate on moving the County forward.


Magers said the fact that the race was close points to growth in the County and the fact that elections have "come of age" in the County. He said he was expecting it to be a battle and it was.


"I am humbled by the support of the voters of the County and I am ready to get to work," Magers said.


Bass, could not be reached for comment Tuesday night.
