Political convention season opens this weekend with locals getting together to pick their delegates to both the county and state conventions.

Grayson County Republicans and Grayson County Democrats will meet, in separate places, at the Grayson County Courthouse in Sherman. The Republicans will be in the East Courtroom on the second floor of the courthouse and the Democrats will be in the West Courtroom on the same floor.

The meetings start at 8 a.m. with registration. Then the groups will breakout into precinct conventions. Those groups will pick delegates to the county conventions, which will be held after lunch Saturday.

Delegates picked at the county convention will move forward to the state convention.

"We are allowed to pick 60 people," said Grayson County Republican Party Chair Larry Millson.

The Republican state convention, Millson said, will be held in Fort Worth on June 5 through 7.

State Democrats will meet in Dallas at the Dallas Convention Center on June 26 through 28.
