The Herald Democrat offers each candidate one article in which they may introduce themselves to voters and give their basic reasons for running for the office, as well as their basic background and experience. The Herald Democrat reserves the right to edit all articles submitted for this purpose. The article will run with a photo of the candidate. The candidate may submit a photo or request that one be taken by the Herald Democrat. If requesting a photo, the candidate should call to set an appointment for a photo when he or she submits information for the article.

The Herald Democrat does not allow candidates to attack opponents in the announcement article. Also, the Herald Democrat does not allow candidates to include endorsements of any kind from anyone in the announcement article.

The final day on which the announcement articles will run is Jan. 31. Candidates who have not submitted an article yet must do so by no later than Jan. 17.
