Burglary — An officer went Tuesday to the 1500 block of S. Crockett Street to respond to a burglary. A woman said the house is vacant and someone entered it by breaking the window out of the back door. A bike and other items were taken from the residence. The officer made a report for burglary of a habitation.

Unauthorized use of motor vehicle — Police went to the 100 block of Atkinson Circle Tuesday regarding a theft. The suspect borrowed a car from the victim and was told to return it by noon Tuesday, but they did not. Police made a report for unauthorized use of motor vehicle.


Theft — On Tuesday, a man reported theft at a business located in the 3200 block of Northgate Drive. The man said that an employee of the business stole some property. Police made a report for theft of property.


Abandoning and endangering a child — Officers responded Tuesday to a house in the 700 block of S. Walnut Street regarding a report of two abandoned, toddler-aged children. Officers met with witnesses who had taken custody of the children. Neighbors recognized the children and informed officers to which residence the children belonged. Officers were able to make contact with the primary custodial parent of the children. The children’s mother had gone to work and left the children at home alone. Officers arrested the woman and booked her into the Grayson County Jail on two felony counts of abandoning and endangering a child, leaving them in imminent danger of bodily injury.


Criminal mischief — An officer went Tuesday to a business in the 400 block of E. U.S. Highway 82 regarding criminal mischief. A man said he was in the business for approximately 30 minutes. When he returned to his car, he discovered one of his tires had been cut. The man said he was not from the area and did not know anyone here. The officer made a report for criminal mischief.


Burglary — An officer responded to a burglary Tuesday at a house in the 600 block of N. Willow Street. The residents of the house had been out of town for two weeks. When they returned they discovered that someone had entered the house and take several items. The officer made a report for burglary of a habitation.


Injury to the elderly — An officer went Tuesday to Shoreline Drive regarding a disturbance. An elderly woman said her grandson had pushed her, spat on her and grabbed her around the neck. She did not have any visible injuries, however she felt physical pain. The grandson fled the scene while the officer was speaking to the elderly woman. The officer made a report for injury to the elderly.


Possession of marijuana — Police received a call Wednesday regarding a noise disturbance at an apartment in the 300 block of N. Heritage Parkway. Upon arrival officers smelled a strong odor of marijuana and were given consent to enter by the resident. Inside the apartment, the officers found less than two ounces of marijuana and a large amount of paraphernalia. Officers arrested the suspect for possession of marijuana and issued the suspect a citation for possession of drug paraphernalia.


Possession of a controlled substance — On Wednesday, an officer went to a business in the 400 block of E. U.S. Highway 82 in reference to a theft. Employees had detained a woman after they saw her concealing items and leaving the store without attempting to pay. All property was recovered without incident. The officer later found that the woman was in possession of methamphetamine and a pipe. The officer arrested the woman for theft and possession of a controlled substance.


Assault — Police were dispatched Wednesday to the 1400 block of E. Wells Avenue regarding a disturbance. The suspect assaulted his wife and her brother. Police arrested the suspect and took him to the Grayson County Jail.


Burglary — Police responded Wednesday to a theft call in the 600 block of W. Pacific Street. After investigating, police found that the previous tenant’s ex-husband broke into the residence and stole the washer, dryer and a furnace before being evicted. Police made a report for burglary of a habitation.


Aggravated assault — An officer responded to a disturbance Wednesday at a business in the 100 block of E. Taylor Street. A man said that another man threatened him with a firearm. The officer made a report for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.


Assault — An officer was dispatched Wednesday to the lobby of the Sherman Police Department in reference to an assault. Officers spoke with the both the victim and suspect in the assaults. Both people claimed to have been assaulted by the other during a heated argument, but neither had physical evidence to support their claims. The officer made a report for assault causes bodily injury-family member.
