Assault — Police responded to a disturbance last Wednesday in the 200 block of West 9th Street. When officers arrived at the house they saw a man holding a baseball bat walking toward another man. The man holding the bat saw the officers and then ran into the house. Some officers entered the house to talk to the suspect, and the other officers spoke with the victim. The officers took the bat from the suspect, who told them that he and his brother had been arguing. During the argument the suspect began chasing the victim while swinging the bat at him, and hit the victim with the bat. Officers arrested the suspect for assault with a deadly weapon (family violence).

Credit card abuse — Employees at a store in the 100 block of East 5th Street told police Saturday that a woman tried to use a stolen debit card. The cashier told police that when she told the woman that the card was coming up as stolen, she left the store and got into a car. The cashier was able to give police a description of the car, and told police they suspected the woman and a man she was with had been shoplifting while they were in the store. Dispatch then told the officers that the car was in the 200 block of West Sam Rayburn Drive. Officers found the car and made contact with the man and woman inside. The woman gave consent for police to search her purse, and police found multiple stolen items. Police were able to watch video footage from the store and saw the man and woman putting items into the woman’s purse. They also saw the woman attempting to use the stolen debit card to pay. Police arrested the man for theft less than $50. The woman was arrested for credit/debit card abuse and theft less than $50


Denison Police


Disturbance — On Thursday, an officer responded to the 3000 block of Loy Lake Road regarding a disturbance. He spoke with a man about the disturbance and discovered that the man had an outstanding warrant. The man then ran into a nearby wooded area. The officer caught the man and arrested him for the warrant and evading arrest/detention.


Shoplifting — Police responded to a store Thursday in the 400 block of North U.S. Highway 75 where store employees said two women concealed $84.52 worth of items and tried to leave the store without paying for them. Police arrested the women for theft over $50.


Shoplifting — Employees at a store in the 400 block of North U.S. Highway 75 told police Friday that a man attempted to leave the store without paying for $99.90 worth of items. The man gave police a false name and then was found to have an outstanding warrant. Police arrested the man for the warrant, theft over $50 and failing to identify/fugitive from justice.


Suspicious person — Police found a woman cursing loudly Friday in the 900 block of South Armstrong near a closed business. While police attempted to arrest the woman, she was combative and was also found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia. The woman was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct, possession of drug paraphernalia and resisting arrest.


Burglary of a habitation — A victim told police Friday that a suspect forced open the front door of his house in the 400 block of West Main Street. An Xbox and other were items were missing. The victim named a possible suspect. The investigation is ongoing.


Shoplifting — Police responded to a store Saturday in the 400 block of North U.S. Highway 75. Store employees said a woman concealed items and tried to leave the store without paying for them. The woman was arrested for theft over $50.


Burglary of a habitation — Police responded to a house Saturday in the 200 block of East Acheson. The victim told police that an unknown suspect entered his house and removed a laptop computer, a radio and several medications.


Drug Possession — Police responded to a call Saturday regarding a person not leaving property in the 1500 block of South Austin. A man was packing up his belongings to leave the property and police found several pills, marijuana and drug paraphernalia to be in his possession. Police arrested the man for possession of a dangerous drug, possession of marijuana and tampering with evidence.


Shoplifting — Employees at a store in the 400 block of North U.S. Highway 75 told police Sunday that two men attempted to leave the store without paying for items. The men were arrested for theft over $50.


Shoplifting — On Monday police responded to a store in the 400 block of North U.S. Highway 75. Store employees said that a woman attempted to leave the store while concealing $77.83 worth of items. Police arrested the woman for theft over $50.


Possession of marijuana — Police stopped a man for a minor traffic violation Tuesday in the 700 block of West Gandy. The officer could smell marijuana coming from the inside of the vehicle. The man was found to be in possession of the drug and arrested for possession of marijuana less than two ounces.
