Sherman Police


Theft — On Monday, a woman called police to report a theft. On Saturday, while she was leaving a store located in the 400 block of E. Highway 82, the woman noticed her wallet was no longer inside her purse. She then went to the store’s customer service desk, where her wallet had been turned in; $450 had been stolen from the wallet. Police made a report for theft.


Theft — A woman told police Monday that while her car was parked in the 700 block of S. Elm Street, an unknown suspect removed the front license plate. Police made a report for theft.


Theft —A man called police Monday to report a theft. The man said that at 8 a.m. Saturday he loaned his bike to a man who was a friend of someone he knew. The suspect was supposed to have returned the bike to the man at 10 a.m. the same day. As of Monday, the bike had not been returned. Police made a report for theft.


Credit/debit card abuse — A man came to the police department Monday to report credit/debit card abuse. The man said his step-daughter stole his credit and debit card and used them without his authorization. Police made a report for credit/debit card abuse.


Assault — On Monday, an officer went to a hospital in the 2600 block of N. Cornerstone Drive to respond to an assault. A woman told the officer she had been assaulted by another patient. Neither person had any visible injuries, and hospital employees determined they had no broken bones. Police made a report for assault causing bodily injury.


Assault — An officer went Monday to the 1800 block of Texoma Parkway in reference to a disturbance. A common law couple had been arguing, and the man kicked the woman in the lower leg. The woman said she was offended by the contact. Police made a report for assault by contact - family violence.


Criminal trespass — On Tuesday, a person told police that someone had been in their house, located in the 700 block of N. Harrison Avenue. Nothing was missing from the house. Police made a report for criminal trespass.


Burglary of a habitation — An officer was dispatched Tuesday to the 700 block of S. Valentine Drive in reference to a burglary. A man said that someone entered his house while he was gone and took his flat screen television and a laptop computer. The officer made a report for burglary of a habitation.


Robbery — An officer went Wednesday to the 400 block of Archer Drive in reference to a robbery that occurred in the 300 block of Archer Drive. The victim said two unknown suspects asked him for money, and, when he declined, they attacked him. Nothing was stolen from the victim, but his elbow was injured and possibly broken. The officer made a report for robbery.


Sexual assault of a child — On Wednesday, police were contacted about the sexual assault of a child. Police conducted a forensic interview. The investigation is ongoing.


Theft — Police were called Wednesday to the police department regarding a theft that occurred in the 700 block of Westwood Drive. A man said his wife’s pendant was stolen on Dec. 5. Police made a report for theft of property.


Theft — A man called police Wednesday to report a theft. At 5:10 p.m. on Tuesday, a male suspect entered a store located in the 400 block of E. U.S. Highway 82. The man selected three memory cards, opened their packaging and concealed them. He then exited the store and was confronted by the reporting party. When the man was asked to return the property he did, and then promptly entered a truck and drove away. Police made a report for theft.


Discharge firearm — On Wednesday, an officer went to a house in the 2000 block of E. Alma Avenue in reference to gun shots being heard from the backyard of the house. No one would answer the door. The officer made a report for discharge of firearms (city ordinance violation) and the investigation is ongoing.


Fraud — Police were called Wednesday to the 600 block of N. Walnut Street regarding fraud. The victim said someone opened up an account for utility service using his personal information and has defaulted on that account. Police made a report for fraudulent use/possession of identifying information.


Accident involving damage to vehicle — An officer spoke with a woman Wednesday in the 100 block of N. Maxey Street regarding a car accident. The woman said another woman backed into her car and drove away. A witness to the accident identified the woman who drove away. The suspect’s driver’s license showed to be invalid. The officer made a report for the accident, accident involving damage to vehicle and for driving while license invalid.


Possession of marijuana — An officer stopped a car Wednesday in the 200 block of N. Grand Avenue and smelled the odor of marijuana coming from inside the car. The officer searched the car and located some marijuana. The driver was released at the scene and will be filed on for possession of marijuana under two ounces.


Denison Police


Evading arrest — On Dec. 11, an officer attempted to stop a car for a minor traffic violation committed in the 1100 block of W. Morgan Street. The driver did not stop until he reached the 1800 block of N. State Highway 91. The officer arrested the man for evading arrest/detention with a motor vehicle. The driver, as well as the passenger in the car, were found to be in possession of a clear, crystal substance that field-tested positive for the presence of methamphetamine, and some pills. The officer arrested the men for possession of a controlled substance and possession of dangerous drugs.


Manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance — An officer stopped a car Dec. 11 in the 1400 block of S. Armstrong Avenue for a minor traffic violation. The officer arrested the driver for having no operator’s license. The passenger in the vehicle was arrested for disorderly conduct (language). Both men were found to be in possession of a crystal-like substance that field-tested positive for the presence of methamphetamine. Both were also charged with manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance.


Burglary — A victim told police Dec. 12 that someone burglarized his house in the 300 block of E. Shepherd Street. The suspect entered through a door and stole a couch, sound system and three end tables. The victim named a possible suspect. The investigation will continue.


Assault — Police responded Dec. 13 to the 200 block of Parnell St. regarding an assault. The victim said that his brother assaulted him after the victim got into an altercation with their mother. Police arrested the suspect for assault causing bodily injury/family violence and an outstanding Grayson County warrant.


Possession of marijuana — Police went Dec. 14 to the 100 block of N. 8th Avenue and found a man in possession of marijuana. Police arrested the man.
