Sherman Police


Theft — On Friday, an officer responded to a store in the 400 block of East U.S. Highway 82 regarding a theft, according to police reports. Store employees had detained a woman who was seen concealing numerous items and then attempting to leave the store without paying for them. The woman had two previous convictions for theft. The officer arrested the woman for theft and took her to the Grayson County Jail.


Fraud — An officer went Friday to a store in the 40o block of East U.S. Highway 82 regarding a theft. A woman had been detained by store employees for shoplifting. The woman was found to be in possession of an ID card that was not issued to her. She said she got the card from a friend and believed the ID card belonged to a family member of the man who gave it to her. The officer contacted the victim and learned she did not know Jones and did not allow her to have the ID card. The officer arrested the woman for theft, fraud use of identifying info, fail to identify and active warrants.


Theft — A woman called police Friday to report a theft. At 5:50 p.m. Thursday, the woman entered a store in the 500 block of West Lamar Street. While inside, the woman laid her phone down on the counter while paying for the merchandise she selected. The woman then left the store, accidentally leaving her phone on the counter. When she realized she was no longer in possession of the phone, she returned to the store and found phone was no longer on the counter where she had left it. Police made a report for theft.


Assault — On Friday, an officer was dispatched to a house in the 700 block South Throckmorton Street in reference to a man getting stabbed. The officer contacted the Criminal Investigation Division, and the investigation is ongoing.


Driving while license invalid — An officer responded to a car accident Friday in the 500 block of North Travis Street. The driver of one of the cars admitted to driving with a suspended license. He also had a previous conviction for driving while license invalid. The officer made a report for driving while license invalid with previous conviction.


Criminal mischief — A woman came to the Sherman Police Department Friday to report criminal mischief. On Dec. 9, the woman discovered that the windows of both of her cars had been shattered while they were parked in her driveway, located in the 2200 block of North Hoard Avenue. Police made a report for criminal mischief.


Possession of a controlled substance — On Friday an officer was dispatched to a business in the 200 block of Sunset Boulevard in reference a possible theft. The officer located the suspect, found that he had outstanding Sherman PD warrants and arrested him. The officer also found that the suspect was in possession methamphetamine, so the suspect was charged with possession of a controlled substance.


Theft — An officer was dispatched Friday to a store in the 400 block of East U.S. Highway 82 in reference to a theft. Store employees had detained a woman after they saw her concealing merchandise and leaving the store without attempting to pay. The officer arrested the woman for theft. Upon arrival at the jail, the officer learned that the woman had previously provided a false name and date of birth. She was found to have five active Grayson County Sheriff’s Office warrants. The woman was booked in for theft, fail to ID and the warrants.


Assault — An officer responded to an assault Friday in the 2600 block of North U.S. Highway 75. A man said that on Dec. 9 two men assaulted him. The officer made a report for assault causing bodily injury.


Driving while license invalid — Officers conducted a traffic stop Friday in the 3600 block of Town Center Street. The driver had a suspended drivers license with previous convictions for driving while license invalid. Officers arrested her and took her to jail. Police made a report for driving while license invalid with previous conviction.


Public intoxication — Officers went Friday to the 2600 block of North Travis Street regarding a man dancing in the intersection. Officers arrived and located the suspect walking in the 200 block of East Lamberth Road. The man was staggering, smelled like alcohol and was not able to perform a field sobriety test. The suspect was arrested and a report was generated for public intoxication.


Theft — On Saturday, officers went to the 300 block of South Heritage Parkway regarding a theft. Officers arrived and recovered a stolen Blu-ray player. The officers made a report for theft.


Possession of dangerous drug — An officer initiated a traffic stop Saturday with a car in the 400 block of East King Street. During the stop, the driver was found to have a suspended driver’s license and two warrants for his arrest. The driver told the officer he was in possession of pills that he did not have a prescription for. The officer seized the pills and arrested the driver for driving while license invalid with a previous conviction, possession of a dangerous drug and two traffic-related warrants.


Prohibited substance in correctional facility — An officer arrested a man Saturday on several charges, including a drug-related offense. Upon arrival to the jail, a corrections officer found the suspect to be in possession of a baggy of powder cocaine. Officers charged the man with possession of a prohibited substance in a correctional facility and made an offense report.


Assault — On Sunday, an officer responded to an assault in the 1400 block of North Hoard Avenue. The caller said the suspect was still in the house and refused to leave. The victim told the officer she got into an argument with her boyfriend, he became upset, and pushed and hit her. The victim had marks that were consistent with her statement says police reports. There were also two other witnesses that verified her story. The officer arrested the suspect for assault causing bodily injury family member.


Theft — Officers went Sunday to a store in the 3100 block of North U.S. Highway 75 in reference to a theft. A man had stolen a case of beer from the store. The officers spoke with the suspect, and he gave them a false report. Officers arrested the man, took him to the Grayson County Jail and made reports theft and false report to police.


Hit and run —An officer went Sunday to the 1600 block of North Grand Avenue in reference to a car crash. The victim had been traveling north when an unknown driver crossed the center line and struck the victim’s car. The suspect fled the scene, failing to leave his or her information as required by law.


Theft — On Sunday, an officer went to a store in the 1800 block of Loy Lake Road in reference to a stolen wallet. A woman said she left her wallet in her cart after taking her groceries out of it. She went home, and then realized she had forgotten her wallet. She went back to the store, and her wallet was gone. The wallet contained a debit card and an engagement ring. The officer made a report for theft of property.


Hit and run — An officer went Sunday to a restaurant in the 1200 block of North Travis Street in reference to a hit-and-run accident. A man said was in the drive-through when a car ran into the rear of his pickup and pushed it several car lengths. The driver of the car failed to stop and leave the required information, drove through the grass, and was last seen headed north. The man’s rear bumper sustained noticeable damage. The officer made reports for the accident and for failing to stop and leave the required information.


Assault — An officer responded to an assault Sunday in the 300 block of South Dewey Avenue. The officer found that a woman had assault another woman. The suspect fled the scene prior to officer’s arrival. The officer later found the suspect, who admitted to being in a fight but claimed to be the victim.
